Happy Monday! I am super excited today to show you my version of the Willow Kimono from Designer Stitch. Designer Stitch is celebrating their first anniversary and I jumped at the opportunity to take part in the Pattern Revolution Designer Stitch First Anniversary Blog Tour.
This will now be my 3rd Designer Stitch pattern that I’ve made. I was lucky enough to have been chosen to pattern test the Eleni top and the Kiera Skirt. It was very difficult to decide which of their amazing patterns I was going to make for the blog tour. Well, I decided on the Willow Kimono since I don’t have one in my wardrobe yet.
I decided that I NEEDED to use fabric from my fabric stache, so I got to digging and came up with this. I purchased this graphic crepe de chine while I was in LA a few years ago. There are so many amazing fabric shops in the LA Fashion District that it’s insane. I can’t wait to go back in a few weeks to feed my fabric addiction.
I wanted the collar to stand out so I went with this Matte Satin fabric from Joann. It’s from their Casa Blanca Collection, which I love. I think the collar gives it a bit of a distinguished look, don’t you think?
The Willow Kimono is definitely on trend and is so easy to dress up or dress down. The pattern has your choice of 3 lengths. You can choose to make it high/low, mid-thigh or lower calf length. You can also add lace, braids or all types of different trims. The pattern also includes tips on how to sew with slippery fabrics and a step by step walk though on how to make french seams. This was my first time sewing a garment with french seams and I’m in love!
