Happy Monday! Today I’m bringing you another Designer Stitch Pattern which I was lucky enough to pattern test. My latest make is called the Santi Skirt. I have been wanting a denim skirt for a while and the Santi skirt is just the right skirt!
As soon as Ann posted this skirt to be pattern tested, I jumped at the opportunity. I love her designs! Her patterns are always on trend and include easy to follow instructions. Let’s talk about the fabric I chose for my skirt.
I’ve always wanted to make something with this Patch Work Denim fabric but didn’t really know what. I thought it would be perfect for the Santi skirt. I purchased it at Joann and can be found here. I believe it was 40% off when I purchased it.
I’m glad I started with a muslin for this project because I ended up making some modifications from the size I started with. I have a 38 inch waist and I started cutting out a size 9 because of my waist measurement. Well, that was WAY to big. (happy to say) I then went down to a size 8 and that was still too large. I ended up making a size 7, which was a perfect fit.
The sewing instructions were pretty straight forward. I did got to google for top stitching sewing tips since I had never done any top stitching. Since I was using denim fabric, I sewed with a denim needle. For my top stitching thread I used Gutermann Jeans Thread. I used regular thread for my bobbin thread and sewed using a 3.5 stitch length. Lastly, sew S-L-O-W-L-Y.
The Santi skirt length falls right below the knee and goes perfect with knee high boots.
The Santi can be made with an optional belt which I decide to make to match my skirt. I mean, matching belt? Yes, please!
I love this skirt so much (as I do all my Designer Stitch patterns) and will definitely be making more in the future. Designer Stitch has just released the Santi Skirt and you can now purchase your very own Santi Skirt pattern here. It’s on sale for a limited time so if you like it, I would purchase it now.
What do you think of my Santi Skirt? Let me know in the comments below!
