Super Easy DIY Glitter Christmas Ornaments

Hey! With Christmas being only days away, I wanted to share with you my Super Easy DIY Glitter Christmas Ornaments.

Here is what you’ll need:

  • Clear ornaments (Whatever size you like)
  • Minwax Polycrylic
  • Glitter
  • disposable cups

A few years ago around this time, I signed up to be a vendor at the Indie Craft Bazaar in Fort Lauderdale and I decided to make some ornaments to sell.  These are super easy to make, I promise.

I purchased some clear ornaments from Joann while they were on sale.  I picked up a pack of 25 for $7.50 at 70% Off and you can find there here.  I suggest you gather  all your supplies together to make the process a little smoother.  My work space is my dining room table so I placed an old placemat on the table to catch any glitter that might not make it inside the ornament.

As you can see I have my disposable cups, glitter and ornaments all ready to go. Make sure to remove the hanging rings from the ornaments before you begin.  I purchased the extra fine glitter at Walmart, but you can find it at Joann or Michael’s also.  The Marquee glitter you see is a more chunky glitter and I purchased it at Michael’s.  You can use any glitter you like.  It’s all about your personal preference.

Minwax Polycrylic

This is a picture of the Minwax Polycrylic I purchased at Walmart in the hardware section.  I’m sure you can find it at any hardware store.  I poured some of the Minwax Polycrylic in an old squeeze bottle I had to make pouring it inside the ornaments less messy.

Now pour some of the Mixwax Polycrylic inside the ornament and make sure it is completed coated inside so that the glitter will adhere properly and you won’t have any spots without glitter when you pour the glitter inside the ornament.

Once completely coated, turn your ornament upside down inside a disposable cup and drain out the excess liquid.

Next, pour your glitter inside of your ornament and twirl it around to coat the inside with glitter.

Once the inside of your ornament is completely coated with glitter pour the excess glitter into another disposable cup.  This makes it easier to pour the extra glitter back into the container.

Next let your ornament dry and you are all set!  I let mine dry over night.  It may not take that long to try, but that’s how long I let mine dry.  Now all you have left to do is carefully place the hanging ring back on and decorate!

I own a Silhoutte Cameo and I cut out a few sayings with vinyl and placed them on my ornaments.  I made these for a friend who had just had a baby.  Aren’t these sweet?

Pretty easy, right?  Now go off and make your own.  What do you think of my ornaments?  Think you’ll make your own?  If you do make sure and tag me on Facebook or Instagram @Soveryjo.

Happy Holidays!

Love,

Jo
