Recently, I was in dire need of a dress and fast! I quicky started going through my mental roladex of patterns and came up with Simplicity Pattern 8124 Misses’ Romper Dress & Top by Cynthia Rowley If you’re looking for something quick and easy, then this awesome, easy off the shoulder dress pattern is the one for you.
Sew, I participated in a fashion show last month. (I know, I’m working on the post. Hold tight.) Without giving it all away, it was an hour before the show and I didn’t have anything to wear. Who does that?! Who sews 6 different looks and doesn’t have anything made for themselves? I needed something ASAP!
Simplicity 8124
This pattern is probably one of the easiest patterns I’ve ever made. For real. The first time I made this pattern was in July 3, 2016. This was before I even started blogging! I did post it on my Instagram HERE and HERE. I made view B. This pattern can be made as a dress, top and even a shorts romper. I’m not a shorts kind of person, but I might make that view soon.
Pattern Review
Pattern Description:
Simplicity Pattern 8124 Misses’ Romper Dress & Top by Cynthia Rowley
Pattern Sizing:
Pattern comes in standard XS-XL. I made a Large based on my bust measurement.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelop once you were done sewing it?
I think it looks exactly like it.
Were the instructions easy to follow?
Super easy. All you have is the main piece and the sleeves.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I really enjoy this pattern. I love a quick sew. I made this pattern in an hour.
Fabric Used:
I used this beauful ankara print. Don’t kill me, but I don’t recall where I purchased it from. It was in my stash.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
None.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
I would sew this again in a heart beat. I want to make the romper next. I would definitely recommend this to anyone. This would be a great beginner project as it eaches you how to make an elastic casing.
Conclusion:
In conclusion, I say, make it! It’s super easy and a very self gratifying make because it comes together so quickly. You can make it casual or dress it up. This is the kind of pattern that you can really make the fabric shine.
What a beautiful fabric and I love how the shoes match so perfectly! I have this pattern but haven’t made it. I have made M7563 which has a similar cropped top style, but I might have to revisit the Simplicity version. The only thing I dislike about off-shoulder tops is having to wear a strapless bra 🙁
Thank you so much! I actually purchased these shoes for another fabric I have, but I was so happy to see they matched this dress as well. M7563 is cute! I’m with you on the strapless bra issue. I recently found a great one at Target by spanx that I LOVE!
Thanks for the tip, I’m off to search these out!
Good luck!
