Hi Guys! Today, I am so super excited to shared with you guys the Ada Peplum & Dress Pattern by my friend Duana Chandle from DuanaDIY! This is her very first pattern and I think she knocked it out the park. I am head over heels with this top and of course I’m already thinking of different ways I can hack this pattern.
Ada Peplum & Dress Pattern
I can’t begin to tell you how excited I was when Duana told me she was going to create a pattern. I really couldn’t wait to see it. She shared some of her process with me and baby, creating a pattern is not for the faint of heart. It was amazing to see the behind the screens of what it actually takes to produce a digital pattern. I was recently commissioned to create a pattern for a small business, but it was a physical pattern. I would love to learn how to create them digitally. I’ve already added learning this skill to my to-do list.
The Ada Peplum & Dress Pattern is designed to be a form fitting peplum top or you can make a dress instead. The most amazing part of this pattern are the sleeves! I LOVE a dramatic sleeve. I mean, this isn’t super dramatic, but it’s the buttons for me baby! How flipping cool?! You can choose your button placement AND you can make the sleeve so that the buttons aren’t actually functional. Of course, you do have the option of making button holes if you choose.
SO, do you like my buttons? Thanks, I made them myself! I try to make my own buttons every opportunity I get. Making your own buttons is not as hard as it sounds. You can purchase a Dritz Craft Cover Button Kit from Amazon like I did. There are instructions right on the back of the package. I also recorded the process and I’ll be sharing that soon so hold tight.
As you can see, I decided to make the top version of the pattern because I don’t currently own any peplum tops that fit me and I love a good peplum top. Based on my body measurements, I made a size 10 for the bust and graded to a size 14 at the waist and I LOVE the fit! Besides the amazing fit of my top, I’m in love with the actual peplum. I used crinoline on the hem line to give it that wavy flow. Don’t you just love it?
To make my Ada Peplum I shopped my stash and used this beautiful Ankara print fabric I’ve been holding on to for a while. I’m so sorry, but I don’t recall where I purchased it from. A lot of times, I purchase fabric with nothing in particular in mind. If the fabric speaks to me, then I buy it and then decide what I’ll make with it. I think this fabric was waiting for the Ada Peplum & Dress pattern.
The Ada Peplum & Dress Pattern was just released today and you can now purchase your own! You can find it on Duana’s Etsy shop HERE. Also, if you are not already following Duana, you can follow her here:
