Hey, hey, hey. So, we are only a few weeks away from the official start of summer and I think it’s time for some summertime fun! I recently tested the Azure Swimsuit from Designer Stitch and Ann does it again. If you’ve been following my blog for a while then you know that I have been pattern testing for Designer Stitch for a few years now and I continue to test her patterns because they are just that good. In my opinion, they never disappoint.
Azure Swimsuit
My new favorite make is the Azure Swimsuit, hands down. The Azure is made of 3 interchangeable pieces which makes all the possible variations mind blowing. You can make a one piece and make the over lay a different color or the same for a monochromatic look. You can also make two overlays and the brief option for your bottoms to make a bikini. All options have different cut lines for the bottom to make a boy let cut, high cut leg or a cheeky high cut leg height.
I decided to make the one piece view to start off with. I used this multi-color swimwear fabric that I purchased many moons ago. So many moons ago that I totally forgot where I purchased it. So sorry. For my Azure, I decided to make a size 5. For the legs I cut out the high cut leg option. I’ve learned that I have a short torso and have to shorten patterns sometimes. Using the pattern markings I removed 1 1/2 from the pattern and I also cut at a size 3 at the shoulders and crotch cut lines. Doing so turned out to work for me.
Another great feature of the Azure Swimsuit is that the pattern comes with different cup sizes. I usually cut a B cup for my Designer Stitch patterns and if you aren’t sure which to cut, the pattern instructions are very detailed and help you in getting the perfect. Also, you can add bra cups to your Azure, which I did not do and had plenty of support. Bonus!
If you’ve always wanted to make a swimsuit then I suggest you start with the Azure Swimsuit. I didn’t make my first swimsuit until last summer and I couldn’t just stop at one, I made three! You can see them all HERE. Another reason I love Designer Stitch patterns is because you can select to only print the size you want AND there is a trimless option. The trimless option makes all the PDF pattern haters fall in love with PDF patterns because all you have to do is print and tape the pattern together. There is no trimming of pattern edges before taping the pattern together. I don’t know about you, but this is a definite win in my book!
So, if you’re looking to get summertime ready and make your own swimsuit, then you can purchase your Azure Swimsuit now on sale HERE.
Until Next time,
Johanna
