In July, the Fort Lauderdale Bloggers re-launched their in person meet ups and it was everything! I’m here to give you the run down and tell you why you need to get out there again and reunite with your blogger friends.
I volunteered to work with The Blogger Union sometime during the pandemic lockdown. They were in need of a Social Media Manager for the Ft. Lauderdale chapter and I volunteered to do it. It has been such a learning experience and a fun ride. During the pandemic we had monthly zoom meetings on different topics to help keep the community involved and share information to the blogger community. Also during that time we didn’t have a chapter officer. Well, we now have a chapter officer, Tami Spence, and we are back to in person events!
FT. Lauderdale Bloggers Meetup at CT Cantina & Taqueria in Dania Pointe
The July FT. Lauderdale Bloggers Meetup was held on July 9th, at CT Cantina & Taqueria in Dania Pointe. This location was an entire vibe. Dania Pointe has a new mall and dining destination and it has many stores and restaurants. There are also many Instagrammable murals.
How to Grow a Successful Blog
The topic of discussion for the day was How to Grow a Successful Blog. Our guest speakers were Amanda Thompson @amwstyled and Emmy Petit @emmyypetit and we discussed “How to Grow and Scale a Successful Blog in 2022”. Amanda has a successful fashion blog where she shares life and style content. Emmy helps businesses and personal brands find their influence. These ladies dropped so many gems with us and I’ll share my notes with you all.
Community building – Be the person you don’t have in your life for others. Look for what you feel is missing and be that person. Also, do not let trolls get to you.
Tips for new bloggers – You have to put yourself out there. Be that with a blog, social media or in person situations.
What are your 4 pillars? – Write those down. What are you passionate about?
What is your mission statement? – Your mission statement should be about you, not what you’re posting about. What are your core values? Your mission statement is who you are and what you’re about.
Social Media – Social Media can be over whelming. Write down 3 social media platforms you want to focus on and add a new platform each year. If 3 is too much, then start off with one.
Things to Post About – Who are you trying to reach? What do you love to talk about? What do people ask you about? Make sure you research current trends.
“If you’re speaking to everyone you’re talking to no one.”
Video content is king – Video is taking over all social media platforms. What can you record? You can share your process with your audience. You don’t have to be an expert. Just start recording!
Tips for your blog – Make sure you have a blog. A blog is yours, social media platforms are not. A blog is your portfolio. Make sure you buy your domain and have a place where people can subscribe to your email list and have a newsletter. Your community is your currency. Make sure that your blog is SEO optimized.
Apps to use for YouTube – TubeBuddy, VidIQ
Whoa, that was a lot of information, don’t you think? After the ladies wrapped up, all of the food started coming out. There was so much food. All the other Blogger Union events I’ve attended in person have provided little bits. Well CT Cantina & Taqueria in Dania Pointe rolled out the red carpet for us and provided a pretty amazing spread. We started out with some appetizers of the different chips and dips they offer and then came out all the different kinds of tacos and the yummy and pretty margaritas.
Thank you Dania Pointe for sponsoring this event! They provided us with goodie bags and even included a phone ring light. This was a perfect gift for a room full of influencers. The gorgeous murals found around Dania Point are also a content creator’s dream come true. If you get the chance, head down there and bring your camera for awesome shots.
Now make sure you follow our speakers on Instagram as well as the South Florida Blogger Union chapters. Make sure you keep your eye out on their socials for upcoming events. I know that the next FTL Meet up will be sometime in September so keep your eyes peeled.
