Hi Guys. Today I’m sharing my latest make which is Know Me Patterns #ME2052 with a little modification. This pattern is by Nikki Brooks from @beautejadore.
As soon as I saw this pattern, I knew I just had to have it. The pattern includes a button-down shirt with a cool sleeve detail and jeans. I talked about this pattern in my pattern haul video that you check out HERE. So, Nikki made the shirt, and she made a little pattern hack with the sleeve and shared the pattern she used to do her hack. You can find it HERE.
My Modifications
I cut out a size 22 because I wanted to make sure it would be loose, but I could have made the 20 or even the 18. I’ll be going down a size the next time I make this shirt. I removed 3 inches from the back bodice and 4 1/2 inches from the front bodice. For the sleeve hack, I just selected what I thought was about 1/2 way down the sleeve and attached the modified pattern piece. I also ended up removing 2 inches from that piece and used 1 inch wide elastic.
This button-down shirt would make a great addition to any wardrobe. It was simple to put together. I think the hardest part of this project would be the buttonholes. I know a lot of people fear buttonholes. I used to be afraid of making buttonhole too, but I think I finally figured it out.
Melanated Fabrics was kind enough to send me this Chevron Shirting Fabric. This color way is no longer available, but you can still get it in red HERE. This is a lightweight shirting fabric and is a blend of cotton, linen, and rayon. I thought it was perfect for this button-down shirt. The site also suggests making lightweight blouses and shirts, loose pants, gathered or lined skirts and dresses.
Hope you all like my button-down shirt as much as I do.
Until next time,
Johanna
Nice work!
Thanks Molly. This is a great pattern.
