Today I’m sharing with you the Kamp Shirt from The Eli Monster Patterns. I am so excited about this post because I can finally announce that I have been selected to be a brand ambassador for The Eli Monster Patterns!!!! YAY!!! So, what does that mean? It means that once a month you will see a post from me featuring one of their amazing patterns for the next 6 months. The Eli Monster Patterns was created by Stephanie Carton and she designs the most adorable sewing and knitting PDF patterns. Although, Stephanie does sell adult size patterns, the majority of her patterns are for children. Her adult selection is growing though. I must admit that I signed up to be an ambassador because I just love her children’s patterns. I’m ashamed to say that I do not sew enough for my son. Having said that, be prepared to see my little guy (who really isn’t so little anymore) grace the pages of www.soveryjo.com more often!
The Kamp Shirt
The Kamp Shirt is perfect for any cool dude heading back to school. This is a classic, short sleeved, button down shirt that can really be worn all year around. You can layer it on top of a long sleeve shirt during the colder months because it was designed with extra wiggle room.
Fabric & Construction
I had originally selected a navy and white polka dot fabric for this shirt and then I remembered I had other fabric in my stash. As soon as I pulled this fabric out, he fell in love with it. Now, I know what you’re thinking. Yes, this would have made a perfect October post. But alas, here we are. I was not able to find a link for this fabric since I purchased so long ago, but here is a link to something similar.
The sizing for the Kamp Shirt starts at 18 months and goes all the way up to 12 years old so you can continue to make this shirt as your little one grows. Based on his measurements, I decided to go with a size 10 and I think it came out great! The pattern comes with very detailed instructions as well as colored photos for you to follow along with. The pattern also has an option for you to make it with color blocked front panels to give you more styling options.
