McCall's 7379 Short Set

FASHION SHOW WEEK| McCall’s 7379

Today I will be sharing look number two from my FASHION SHOW WEEK Series. Following along with my Summertime Fun Collection, I’ll be sharing how I used McCall’s 7379 for this look.

Model: Perry (My son)
Social Media: N/A (You can follow my IG @soveryjo)
Shirt: McCall’s 7379 view C
Shorts: McCall’s 7379 view D
Fabric: Purchased from House of Mamiwata Dark Turquoise, Gray “Graduated Bulleye” – no longer available, but you can find similar HERE.
Denim was purchased in LA Fashion District.

Construction:

Shirt: Originally, I was going to make a dashiki style shirt and went straight to YouTube. I came across Montoya Mayo’s channel. Although I did not make a dashiki shirt, I did use her tutorial (found HERE) for the neck facing. I thought it would be easier to use the raglan top pattern in McCall’s 7379. I also wanted to make the reverse of Josiah’s look found HERE. I cut a size 14 for the top. I used denim for the sleeves and used the ankara fabric for the bodice to the raglan.

Shorts: I used McCall’s 7379 view D and cut a size 14. I used the ankara as my main fabric and used the denim for the pockets.
Modifications: For the top I went up 1 size and made a neck facing using the tutorial listed above. For the shorts I cut a size 14 and left them long. I omitted the flap on the outer side pockets. I sewed both patterns as instructed for the rest.

Please excuse my son’s mean mug. This was his very first show and I told him to smile. I promise he loved every second and was so excited, although these photos don’t portray that. Well, at least he’s smiling in the last photo.

I hope you all enjoyed day two of my FASHION SHOW WEEK. If you missed my 1st look, you can read all about it HERE. You can also read all about the dress I wore HERE. Make sure you come back tomorrow where I’ll be sharing look three.

Until next time,

Johanna
