Hi Guys! Welcome back to day 4 of my FASHION SHOW WEEK! Thanks for coming back! Today I’m sharing Simplicity 8936 view C with some modifications and I paired it with a self drafted gathered skirt with pockets and tulle underskirt. I share all the deets below, so lets get started!

Skirt: Self drafted gathered skirt with pockets and split and tulle underskirt
Fabric: Purchased from House of Mamiwata
African Print Fabric/ Ankara – Shimmering Purple, Blue, Gold ‘Chinwe 2.0’, YARD or WHOLESALE can be ordered HERE. Matte Tulle fabric for underskirt was purchased at JOANN HERE.
Construction
Top: Based on Jeniah’s body measurements, I made a size 14. I followed the pattern instructions when sewing it together.
Skirt: To make the skirt I used waist measurement x 3/4 = width + 1 inch seam allowance by 40 inches long + 1 inch seam allowance. You cut the front piece on the fold and you cut the 2 back pieces not on the fold to be able to attach the pockets and zipper. For the waist band I used waist measurement / 2 + 1 inch seam allowance for the 3 inch wide waist band and cut it on the fold. Tulle Underskirt: For the underskirt, I cut 5 layers of tulle 24 x 40 cut on the fold, 5 for front and 5 for back. I gathered all the layers together and attached to 1 inch elastic using a zig zag stitch.
Modifications
For the top, I added an extra layer of ruffles. I increased the length by 2 inches and I omitted the shoulder straps. I also added an inch to the bodice length.
