#2019bestnine – My Best Nine on Instagram

Happy New Year guys! I hope you had an amazing time bringing in the new year with someone you love. The best nine blog post is one of my favorite to write. I think it’s so fascinating to see what content people like to see. Let’s get right into it!

2019 best nine
  1. Mimi G and Norris Ford Wedding – It’s no surprise that my most liked photo was from Mimi G Style and Norris Ford’s wedding this summer. If you happen to not know who Mimi G is, she’s only the MAIN reason why I started sewing. I started sewing 6 years ago after seeing Mimi’s Regal Maxi Skirt on Facebook. I’ve been sewing ever since! I read all of Mimi’s blog posts and watched all her videos. I’m even a SEWIT!ACADEMY student. Unknowingly to Mimi, she became my sewing mentor and I’ve learned so much from her. It was such a big honor to have been invited to their wedding. The ceremony was cry worthy and everyone danced the night away. Yes, I made my dress. You can read all about it HERE.

2. DIY Tent Dress – This summer I went a little crazy making Ogden Cami hacks. The funny thing is, I’ve made 2 hacks and I’ve yet to make the original version yet. I’ll make at least 1 in 2020. This top is so easy to make, you can’t help yourself, but make several. You can read my blog post HERE.

3. Simplicity 8982 – How to Add a Circle Ruffle to Bottom of Skirt Tutorial. I made Simplicity 8982 view C and E and I wrote a tutorial on how to make the bottom ruffle for the skirt. I really loved how this look came together. You can read all about it HERE.

4. DIY Blue Sequin Dress – I made this blue sequin dress in about 2 hours. In my haste, I did not cut the fabric properly and the dress ended up being too short. I didn’t have much fabric left, but I had enough to add a ruffle to the bottom. Do I like ruffles, or do you? lol You can read all about my faux pas HERE.

5. My Lena Horn Dress – This adorable little number is called the Lena Horne dress by Tabitha Sewer. This is her first pattern release and she set the innanets ablaze over the summer. The fabric I used is my favorite fabric purchase of 2019. This fabric is so beautiful and bright and is sooo soft. I purchased it from Shari from My Daily Threadz.

6. My sew friends – This photo was taken at Mimi and Norris’s wedding. These are my sewsisters! These ladies are so amazing and yes, we ALL made our dresses.

7. My Very 1st Sketch – I would first like to say that I can’t sketch to save my life. This is my feeble attempt of trying to put my vision on paper. I figured how bad could I do with a bunch of straight lines, right? I knew what I wanted the bodice and the skirt to look like and this is what I came up with. I modified the bodice on McCall’s 7366 and used the skirt from McCall’s 7683. In case you hadn’t noticed, this is the same dress I wore to the wedding.

8. Ogden Cami Hack – This is a photo of my first Ogden Cami hack. I had been wanting a flowy summer top and had recently saw a tutorial on the slash and spread method and I decided to give it a try. I documented my process in my blog post. This method can be achieved with any cami pattern you might have. This was one of my most popular posts of the year. You can read my blog post HERE.

9. Video of me cutting out the Erica Dress – This Thanksgiving holiday I decided that we would spend it in Boston with my family. Right before I left, I told my friend Andrea I was coming and I planned on making my Erica dress while on vacation. At that moment, we decided to do another collaboration. We did a collab over the summer where we were fabric twinning that you can read about HERE. This time we decided to make the same pattern but each use different fabric. You can read all about our recent collab HERE. Any who, the photo you see is actually a video I posted on Instagram of me cutting out my Erica Dress. I’ve linked the post below

What an amazing year 2019 was but I’m looking forward for all things 2020. I want to thank you guys who subscribe to my blog or follow me on social media. I really appreciate that you take time out of your day to read my blog posts or like my post or send me a DM. I can’t wait to see where 2020 takes us!
