Hi Guys! I hope the new year is treating you well so far. Today I’m coming to you with my first pattern test of 2020. I bring to you the Olivia Bralette Knickers Briefs Panties set by Designer Stitch! Yes, I made underwear!!!! I went back and forth on whether I should participate in this pattern test or not. I decided to conquer my fears of making underwear and actually sharing me wearing them with all of you. So, here goes!

The Olivia Bralette Knickers Briefs Panties Sewing Pattern is here and yes, it’s the pattern for you! No, really, it is. This pattern has so many options, it’s insane! You might be thinking how exactly a two piece set can have so many options. Let me explain. The bralette can be made in cup sizes B, C, D, DD (E), and F. The bottoms can also be made in the following combinations:
- Boy Leg
- Full Brief
- Mid Leg
- High Leg
All of the above Front Leg heights are completed with choice of 6x Back Leg heights:
- Boy Leg
- Full Brief
- Modest Mid Leg
- Cheeky Mid Leg
- Modest High Leg
- Cheeky High Leg
Fabric
While searching in my fabric stash, I came across this black scuba knit fabric because why not black? I purchased the scuba knit from my local fabric store A to Z Fabrics. I also purchase some black power mesh from JoAnn to add to my side panels. This was actually my muslin and it turned out to be very wearable. This fabric has great stretch recovery and is perfect for this project, but your fabric options are limitless. You can use just about any knit fabric. Some of the pattern testers used lace over lay and even velvet.
Construction
Based on my body measurements, I made a size 4 for the bralette. As I mentioned above, I decided to add power mesh to the side panels to give it a little detail. For the panties, I decided to make a size 3. I went with the high leg option for the front and the modest high leg for the back. I thought this fit was perfect for me.
As I mentioned above, I struggled with doing this pattern test. I wasn’t sure how it would be received and what people would think of me. Let’s face it, I’m not a size 2 Instagram model. I came to the decision that this was something I need to do for me and for all of you! I know that there is someone out there who feels exactly like I did. You might think, no one wants to see my stretch marks and cellulite. Well, guess what, most of us have them. So what? Who cares? We have to love ourselves enough to know that we are beautiful no matter what. We all come in all shapes and sizes and we are beautiful, just the way we are.
I really wanted to make a robe to wear with my Olivia Bralette and Panties, and then I remembered that I already had one! Well, it’s not exactly a robe, but it did the job. I wore my Willow Kimono which is also a Designer Stitch Pattern. I made the Willow Kimono 3 years ago and you can read about it HERE. It was perfect for the look I was going for.
The Olivia Bralette Knickers Briefs Panties Sewing Pattern is another amazing pattern from Designer Stitch. They always manage to knock it out the park and come out with the best patterns. I love Designer Stitch because the pattern instructions are always very clear and one of the printing options included is a trimless option. What this means is that all you have to do is print your pattern and put it together! I also love that you can select what pattern size you want to print instead of printing all the pattern sizes at once. Make sure you pick up this pattern. You won’t regret it.
Until next time,
Johanna
