Hi Guys! I know it’s been a little bit sinced I posted. A lot is going on in the world right now. First we are dealing with the corona virus pandemic that is sweeping the world and now that states are opening back up, we are seeing an increase in cases. Then we saw the nation erupt in protest after the deaths of Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor and George Floyd. In light of the current events many companies are stepping up in solidarity with the Black Lives Matter Movement and unfortutely many are not. I will be speaking more in detail about this in another post soon. I just wanted to let you all know what’s going on with me and why my head hasn’t been in the game lately. I’m slowing coming back.
Alright, enough about that, for now that is. Let’s get into this Boho chic Mindy top I made by Fibre Mood! Oh yeah, I made earrings too!

Pattern used: The Mindy Dress found in the new Fibre Mood 10 pattern magazine and DIY Olga Earrings which is a free pattern that includes 3 different earring styles. I made Olga Earrings 2.
Based on my body measurements, I made a size 12. Although I like the fit, I will probably make a size 10 next time I make this pattern. I’m planning on making the dress version. I also made the butterfly sleeve option. The pattern also comes with a puffy sleeve option as well.
Fabric used: Please don’t be mad at me, but I am the WORST at fabric content. I purchased this fabric from the LA Fashion District from the Michael Levine Loft which is no longer open. RIP. This place was AMAZING! They sold fabric by the pound and it was one of my favorite stops when in the Fashion District. So, this fabric feels like a crepe. It is very light weight and flowy and I love it.
Sewing Category, Beginner. Intermediate or Advanced?
I would say that this is an advanced beginner project. This pattern does call for a invisible zipper installation. If you can insert a zipper, then my should be fine. Even if you can’t, there are hundreds of tutorials on YouTube you can watch.
Modifications: The main modification I made to the Mindy Dress pattern is make it into a top! I simply measured down from the bodice to where I wanted the shirt to end. I also omitted the side zipper. I was able to get my top on with no problem. When I make the size 10, I’ll definitely have to add it in then.
Would you recommend this pattern?
YES! The pattern comes with great instructions and the PDF is layered so you can choose to only print your size. Fibre Mood is also now including seam allowance in their patterns! YES. This is exciting to me because when I first found Fibre Mood, they did not and I must say that was kind of a turn off for me. You can read about my other Fibre Mood projects HERE and HERE.
I hope you guys enjoyed my Mindy top. I’ll be haning out at the Fibre Mood Link Party #14 today. Make sure you head on over there and see what everyone else made!
Be safe out there folks!
Until Next time,
Johanna
