DIY Bomber Jacket and Bucket Hat

DIY Boy’s Bomber Jacket with Reversible Bucket Hat

Hi Guys! Happy Friday!! We’re doing a little flash back Friday to when my little dude (who really isn’t so little anymore) was featured in Sewn Magazine. The August issue of Sewn Magazine was all about the guys and featured men who sew as well as items made for the men in our lives. I chose to make this super cute bomber jacket with matching reversible bucket hat.

Pattern Review

Pattern Description: Burda Style Pattern B9355 Girl/Girl Plus Jacket

Pattern Sizing: 6-13. I made the size 13. He’ll be moving into men sizes soon. I’m crying. OK, back to the review.

Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Exactly like it.

Were the instructions easy to follow? Super easy. I made this pattern in one afternoon. If you are a beginner, the zipper might be a little difficult for you. There are tons of videos on YouTube on zipper installation.

Fabric Used: I purchased this End of Bolt: 2.5 Yards of Fashion Stretch Denim Olive Green Finish for $14 from LA Finch Fabrics. Their end of bolt sales are unreal.

Pattern Alterations: None. I sewed this just as instructed and I didn’t have to make any alterations to the pattern. I love this pattern because it comes with a color block option that I’ll be using to make the next jacket I make.

Conclusion: I would definately recomment this pattern to anyone with a child. This is a perfect fall jacket or for our South Florida winters.

The Sorrento Bucket Hat

The hat my son is wearing is called the Sorrento Bucket Hat from Elbe Textiles. This pattern is only $2 and all proceeds from the sale of the pattern are donated to charity. This is a really great pattern and it’s reversible!!!! The pattern comes in 4 sizes and it goes according to your head measurement.

So, guess what, I’ll be featured in the December issues of Sewn Magazine and today is the last day to order your copy. You won’t want to miss this issue, I promise.

I hope you enjoyed my little ham in his jacket!

Until next time,

Johanna
