Hi Guys! Happy Wednesday! It’s that time again for another Fibre Mood Link Party. Today I’m sitting pretty in pink in my Luz Cardigan from Fibre Mood. This cardigan is so perfect for this South Florida weather because the temperature has finally dropped below 80 degrees.
The Luz Cardigan
Let’s talk about this amazing cardigan, shall we? The Luz Cardigan is going to be my new go to sweater this winter. I just know it. It’s so warm and cozy, just like a nice hug. Dare I say the man of my life said it looks like a house coat. OK, so what? My cardigan is super cute. What does he know? Fibre Mood even describes it as the cozy cardigan. I agree. OK, maybe it does just a tad if I use the belt I made to go with it.
Based on my body measurements, I cut out a size Large and I didn’t make any alterations to the pattern. The fabric that I used is this pink chevron stitched fabric that I picked up at my local fabric store. This pattern is very simple to follow and I love the fact that the PDF includes tiling. This means that I can select what size I want to print out AND the Fibre Mood patterns now include seam allowance! In previous pattern releases, the seam allowance wasn’t included. I’m happy to say that in the last few link parties I’ve participated in, they have included the seam allowance and I love that.
How I Wore It
So, here’s the deal. As I was making my cardigan, I started thinking about how I was going to wear it. Initially, I was going to wear it with my black faux leather tights. I wore them HERE. Then, my wheels started turning and I thought, I need to make something! I purchased 3 1/2 yards of fabric and I still had plenty left over.
Matching Skirt and Headband
After going through my mental rolodex of all the patterns I owned, I knew I had the perfect pattern to complete my look. The skirt I chose to make is Simplicity 8931 view C. For the skirt, I cut the size large, BUT I think I should have made the medium? I do think the way the skirt came out went with the look I was going for. I didn’t make any modifications to the pattern and I made it in one afternoon.
Of course I had to make a matching headband, right? I have been on this headband kick since last week. This is like my 5th one! For this version, I wided the sides and I made the elastic longer by 1/2″. The headband is called the Drew from Seamwork. Seamwork is a community of positive and supportive sewists. We’re here to offer encouragement, share ideas, and connect through creativity. They offer classes and have loads of patterns and they also publish an online monthly magazine with two new patterns each month. They are currently having a sale on their unlimited tier and it’s 50% off. This means you would have unlimited access to all their patterns and up to 20% off fabric from their favorite online shops. Make sure you use my Seamwork link to sign up.
Like my waist bag? Thanks, I made it. My waist bag might look familiar to you because I made it for Link Party 11. This is also a Fibre Mood pattern. You can download it for free HERE and you can also check out how I wore it HERE.
