Happy National Barbie Day! Is that a thing? I’m sitting pretty in my Barbie Pink dress I made for my birthday this year. In honor of the release of the Barbie movie, I’m sharing my April Fabric Mart make that I shared on their blog.
Barbie Pink Dress
I would always say that I was going to make something to wear for my birthday and I never get to opportunity to. This year I was determined to make it happen. Every other 1st Monday of the month, I blog about a Fabric Mart make over on the Fabric Mart blog. It just happened that I was going to have a post due in April and thought it was the perfect opportunity to make myself a dress. I chose this Fandango Pink Cotton/Lycra Stretch Sateen fabric and got to work on my birthday dress. The pattern I chose was Vogue 1884.
I shared my make over on the Fabric Mart blog HERE. If you are interested, you can read all the deets on my dress where I share how I fit my dress and there are also photos of the construction of the dress. I even share how I attached horsehair braid to the hem of my dress.
So, in honor of the release of the Barbie movie, I’m sharing my Barbie Pink Dress. Also, Simplicity Patterns is having Let’s Sew Pink for July challenge where they have designated patterns to sew up in pink to be entered in their giveaway and this pattern is on the list! So, you know I’m using this dress as my entry into the contest. You can see all the patterns and rules for the contest HERE.
ALSO, I’m participating in a sewing challenge over on Instagram called the #patternhackathon. My partner and I have chosen a pattern that we will hack and the day to post our makes is tomorrow. I’m so excited to be participating. I had some left-over fabric from the dress I made and will be using it to sew up my pattern hack. I’ll be sharing a blog post about it, but you can check out my make as soon as a post over on my Instagram account at @soveryjo.
Until next time,
Johanna
